Welcome to Makers of Manners.

Like many people from the British Isles, I learned to knit as a child and never stopped.

I started out as an Art History lecturer in London but I was always experimenting with textiles.

That eventually brought me to the US where I designed knitwear for many apparel companies in NYC and then became the sweater and blanket designer for Woolrich Woolen Mills in PA. 

I now live in upstate NY where there is an abundance of locally-produced wool in the Hudson Valley.  I established Makers of Manners in  2019 to create a variety of sustainable knitwear services.
